The Awards

Eco-schools Award

Offers a defined, controllable way for environmental issues to be taken from the curriculum and applied to the day to day running of a school. This process helps pupils to recognise the importance of environmental issues.

There are three award levels within the eco-schools programme, bronze, silver, and green flag.

48 schools in Trafford are currently registered on the eco-schools programme and have achieved a flag award:

  • 27 schools with bronze flag awards
  • 15 schools with silver flag awards
  • 6 schools with green flag awards

Sustainable Learning

Sustainable Learning is a free, structured, task based approach to managing energy and water use in schools. Many schools working through this programme have achieved energy reductions of 10% or more and gained a better understanding how they use their energy and water. The document is a key resource and reference guide, acting as a useful assessment method to help you gain national accreditation for your efforts.

15 schools in Trafford are currently registered on the Sustainable Learning award programme.
