Carbon Offset Services
Each time you fly, you are contributing to global
warming. Aeroplanes use kerosene, which is a
non-renewable fossil fuel that releases greenhouse
gases into the atmosphere as it burns. It is now
possible to pay a small sum of money to balance out
your share of your flight's emissions. This money is
used to fund projects that absorb, reduce or avoid an
equivalent amount of greenhouse gases elsewhere. This
is called an 'offset' and by taking this action you
are helping to repair your impact on the climate. Once
you have taken the decision to fly, it is much better
to offset the emissions than to do nothing.
More information on companies providing 'carbon
offset' services are listed below, whereby for a fee
they will invest in carbon-saving schemes such as tree
planting or renewable energy projects which will
offset any unavoidable carbon emissions and calculate
the costs.
