Trafford is my Planet
In
local neighbourhoods and in our homes, what seem like
small changes in behaviour will actually make a huge
difference. This campaign is promoting that it's the
people who have the power to make a real and dramatic
change. Every time we boil a kettle, leave a TV on
standby or drive a car, we use energy. The more we
use, the more greenhouse gases we create and the more
we change the world’s climate. Trafford Council are
supporting the Manchester is my Planet campaign as
part of the Green Energy Revolution for climate
change. The first step was to achieve a goal of 10,000
pledgers across Greater Manchester before the end of
October 2005 to be signed up on the campaign website,
this figure was exceeded with a remarkable 10,500
pledges.
SAVE OUR PLANET – STARTING WITH TRAFFORD
We can all play our part to make a real difference
to climate change, how? Firstly, pledge your
commitment to saving energy by either logging onto the
www.manchesterismyplanet.com and vote for Trafford
is my Planet, or complete a card available at many of
Trafford Libraries, or text the word ‘pledge’ and your
postcode to 80010.
The pledge:
"I pledge to play my part in reducing the regions
greenhouse gas emissions by 20 per cent before 2010,
to help the UK meet its international commitment on
climate change."
The Trafford is my Planet pledge is ongoing, we can
still see our pledges being tracked on a
'pledge-o-meter' on the campaign website, log on below
to have a look at how committed Trafford residents are
in their continued fight against climate change,
having pledged to support their reduction in carbon
emissions |
